2015-2016 School Year
Our library is closed for the summer, but the year ended with a bang! The families of MSW showed their love of books and their generous spirit by donating more than 2,000 "gently used" books for the 2016 Book Swap. Hardcover books and paperback books, picture books and board books, chapter books and popular middle grade reads were all on display in the library. Students in each class visited the swap to choose their "new reads" for the summer. Students were excited to pick a book and bring it home. There was much to choose from and the decision was not always easy. The few books that remained were donated to a homeless shelter for women and children.
**All students are highly encouraged to read daily over the summer and join the summer reading book clubs at their local public library.

Orange Sherbet
By: Mrs. Scarpino’s Class
I hear crunchiness, the hum of the freezer, the clink of the spoons.
I see orange, the ice cream store, cold air coming out of the freezer, scooping up the ball of orange.
I feel the cone, the cold air, a brain freeze, the smooth spoon.
I smell sugar, orange, orange popsicle, orange juice.
I taste the coldness of the ice cream, the hardness of the spoon, the yumminess, the sweetness.
What could it be?
Orange Sherbet
Red
By: Ms. Dazzo’s Class
Red is an apple.
Red is a rose.
Red is a heart.
Red is a strawberry.
Red is a fast race car.
Red is a stop sign.
Red is Luca’s shirt.
Red is fire.
Red is a raspberry.
Red is the inside of a juicy watermelon.
Red is a stripe in the American flag.
Red is our rug in the library.
Red is grapes.
Red is Ryan’s shirt.
Red is a cherry.
Red is pepperoni.
Red is pizza sauce.
Red is lip gloss.
Red is spaghetti sauce.
Red is Spiderman.
Red is Superman’s cape.

Book madness!!!
PRPL librarian Staci Greenwald payed a visit to our library to get 4th and 5th grade students excited about books and Book Madness. Book Madness is a competition much like the college basketball tournament March Madness. Each child completed a bracket, hoping to pick their favorite book to win the whole tournament. Students vote each week in hopes of accumulating wins in each round. Points are accumulated and students will have a chance to win Target gift cards. 4th and 5th grade students are able to vote in our library or online through the PRPL.
MSW student, Hannah G., was one of the winners of a gift card. Hannah's accurate bracket earned her points and she also picked the winner of the competition, WONDER by R.J. Palacio.
